FAQ

What is a PortCast?

A PortCast is a podcast meant to help you learn European Portuguese (PE) and Brazilian Portuguese (PB). It is basically a text (pdf) with an audio version (mp3). The slow audio version, Free, is for free. If you wish to listen to the text at a more normal speech pace, you have to buy the PortCast separately (Singles) or in packs (Packs). These PortCasts come with glossary, comprehension, grammar and vocabulary exercises and key. There are two types of texts: those written specifically for learning purposes and authentic texts.

How does PortCast work?

At PortCast we make available written texts (pdf) and their audio version (mp3) on Portugal and Brazil that are meant to help you learn Portuguese where and whenever you so wish, at your own pace! In the Free version, the written texts come with a slow audio version to help oral comprehension. You can read and listen to these PortCasts online, in the website, or download them to your gadget. In the Singles version, you will find written texts with an audio version at a normal pace, plus glossary, comprehension, grammar and vocabulary exercises, and key. You can choose these PortCasts one by one. To buy them, you have to fill in your profile and complete the buy. They will then be available in your account and you will also get the links in an e-mail. Before buying a PortCast, you can check a complete one here. In Packs you have the Single PortCasts organized in packages, by topics or levels. The buying process is the same as with Singles: you have to fill in your profile and complete the buy. They will then be available in your account and you will also get the links in an e-mail. Before buying a PortCast, you can check a complete one here.

To be able to open and use the written texts, be it those that are free or that you have to pay for, you need to have a pdf reader (like, for example, Acrobat Reader) installed in your computer or gadget. To be able to open and use the audio texts, be it those that are free or that you have to pay for, you need to have installed an mp3 reader (like, for example, Winamp or Toones) in your computer or gadget.

Please NOTE that all products subject to fees (Singles and Packs) are only made available once the payment has been confirmed, which can take up to 48 hours.
